Can you get flush uPVC windows?
Yes. Flush sash uPVC windows are widely available, with the opening sash sitting level with the frame when closed for the clean line of a timber casement. They come in colours and woodgrain finishes and can meet the same 1.4 W/m²K Part L standard as other replacement windows.
How does a flush sash differ from a standard casement?
A standard casement sash overlaps the frame and sits proud of it. A flush sash is recessed so the faces line up, which makes the frame look slimmer and more like timber.
Are there trade-offs?
- They usually cost more than standard casements
- The glass area can be slightly smaller
- Quality depends heavily on the profile system and weld finish
Where do flush sash windows work best?
On period homes, cottages and any elevation where a traditional look matters. See our flush sash windows. Jake at JMF Windows surveys every job himself, JMF is Certass registered, and its A-rated windows carry a 10-year guarantee.
Do flush windows lose energy efficiency?
No. A flush sash can reach the same Window Energy Rating as other uPVC windows when the glass and seals are well specified, because the rating applies to the whole window rather than the style.
