Local vs national: what changes when you choose an Oxford firm
Everest, Anglian and Safestyle are all trading names of the same company, ASHI Group Ltd, so getting quotes under two of those names is not a real comparison.
- Who you deal with. Everest sends a design consultant, then a separate technical surveyor. A local firm such as JMF often has the same small team handle both.
- Seeing the product. Everest lists no showroom near Oxford; several local firms do, including A&C, Silent View, Mcleans and Legacy.
- Local knowledge. One home in five in Oxford predates 1919, and the city has 18 conservation areas, so local experience with older frame sizes and planning rules helps.
- Aftercare. A firm based down the road is easier to get back out than a national call centre.
- A genuine second quote. Everest, Anglian and Safestyle are always priced by the same company, so an independent local quote is a real point of comparison.

How we picked the Oxford firms
We checked every firm on 21 October 2026 for an active trading record, a base in or near Oxford, window and door fitting (not glass merchants or repair-only), and public reviews. That ruled out Milton Keynes and High Wycombe firms and anyone with no confirmable record. Ratings move weekly, so check the live score before booking anyone, including us.

We don’t publish a price list; our quotes are free and itemised, so you can set them against Everest’s guide price line by line. Our uPVC windows are A-rated as standard, sourced from named suppliers including Liniar, Smart and Origin. We also fit timber windows, aluminium windows, composite doors and aluminium bifolds.
Where we’re not the best fit: we don’t repair timber windows, and we source frames rather than making our own; our Trustpilot profile is small, so Google carries most of our feedback.

2. Woodcraft Windows (Sandford Gate, Oxford): best for new timber sash and casement windows
Woodcraft is the trading name of Traditional Glaze Solutions Ltd, incorporated in 2015 (Companies House 09746509). It scores 4.9 on Google from 89 reviews and 4.8 on Trustpilot from 103 (Trustpilot). The range is timber-led: sash and casement windows, AluClad, wooden doors and orangeries, with a 30-year guarantee on wooden French doors.
Good to know: timber costs more than uPVC, around 50% more than uPVC on Everest’s guide (Everest’s website, October 2026), and Woodcraft also has branches outside Oxford.

Admiral has more Google reviews than any other Oxford firm we checked: 4.8 from 230. It says it was established in 1986, with the current company dating from 2000 (Companies House 03961222), and states FENSA, TrustMark, Trading Standards and SafeContractor approval with a 10-year guarantee.
Good to know: it scores 4.3 on Trustpilot from 22 reviews (Trustpilot), and its Cowley site is described as an installation depot rather than a showroom.
4. Silent View Windows (Thame): best for seeing timber and timber-look side by side

It scores 4.5 on Google from 70 reviews, is FENSA registered and says it offers GGFi insurance-backed guarantees. As well as sash, timber and uPVC windows and composite doors, it does glass work such as mirrors, splashbacks and stained glass.

What windows cost in Oxford in 2026
There’s no official price list for Oxford. Here is Everest’s own guide figure next to two cost guides.
| Item | Everest guide | MyJobQuote | Checkatrade |
|---|---|---|---|
| White uPVC casement window, fitted | £700 to £1,800 (Everest’s website, October 2026) | £350 to £600 (MyJobQuote, Jul 2026) | £500 to £1,250 (Checkatrade, May 2026) |
| Aluminium casement window | About 25% more than uPVC (Everest’s website, October 2026) | £550 to £800 (same MyJobQuote guide) | £350 to £600 (Checkatrade, Jun 2026) |
| 3-bed semi, uPVC throughout | Not published | £4,000 to £6,000 | £8,000 to £15,000 |
| Composite front door | Not published | £550 to £2,350 (MyJobQuote, Sept 2026) | Not compared |
Figures aren’t an exact match (Checkatrade covers any material or style), but Everest’s guide sits above MyJobQuote’s range, and the two cost guides disagree by about two to one on a whole house, so second and third quotes are worth the time. Oxford sits in the South East, where one regional study puts prices about 15% above the national average, at roughly £545 per uPVC casement (ExpertSure, Mar 2026).
What Oxford homes need
- Four in ten homes are below EPC band C. 58.4% of Oxford homes with a certificate are band C or above, falling to 20.9% for homes built before 1930 (ONS, to March 2025). Ask each installer for the Window Energy Rating of the exact frame and glass quoted.
- One home in five predates 1919. 12,830 of Oxford’s 63,780 homes (20.1%) were built before 1919, and 41.0% before 1940 (VOA Council Tax stock of properties 2025). Bays, odd sizes and soft brickwork are common, so ask how a firm prices them.
- 18 conservation areas. Listed building consent is normally needed to replace windows on a listed building (Oxford City Council), for Everest and any local firm alike.
Five checks before you sign with anyone
- Meet Part L. Replacement windows need a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or better, or a Window Energy Rating of band B or above (GOV.UK).
- Get a certificate. Installers on a competent person scheme such as FENSA or CERTASS must give you one within 8 weeks of finishing (GOV.UK).
- Check cancellation terms. Signing at home usually gives 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (legislation.gov.uk).
- Ask who backs your guarantee and deposit, and get the provider’s name in writing. Paying part by credit card adds Section 75 protection.
- Ignore deadline discounts. Which? warns about quotes that fall if you don’t sign on the day (Which?, Sept 2026); a fair firm gives its best price first time.
Questions people ask about Everest
Are Everest windows expensive?
Everest puts a white uPVC casement at £700 to £1,800 fitted, above MyJobQuote’s £350 to £600 and Checkatrade’s £500 to £1,250. Specs differ, so get two or three quotes for the same window, glass and hardware.
Is Everest owned by Anglian?
Yes. Everest, Anglian and Safestyle are all trading names of ASHI Group Limited, company 02540020, previously called Anglian Windows Limited until January 2024 (Companies House).
Does Everest have a showroom near Oxford?
We couldn’t find one; Everest’s website lists no showroom addresses. Locally, A&C, Silent View, Mcleans, Legacy, Didcot Windows (by appointment) and JMF all have one.
Why choose a local installer over Everest?
Everest, Anglian and Safestyle are all priced by the same company, so a local firm gives a genuinely separate quote. You also get a showroom to visit, a smaller team from quote to fit, and reviews from Oxford customers you can check.
