10+ Best Safestyle Alternatives in Oxford (2026)

28th October 2026

Updated October 2026 by JMF Windows & Doors, an Oxford window and door company. We’ve ranked ourselves first; every other figure is sourced.

This guide compares Safestyle, the national brand, with 11 independent Oxford installers on guarantees, showrooms and aftercare. A local firm is worth a look because it gives you a genuinely separate quote, not another version of the same company.

Local vs national: what changes when you choose an Oxford firm

Safestyle’s contact page says it is a trading name of ASHI Group Limited in Norwich (Companies House 02540020), the same company behind Anglian and Everest, so getting quotes under two of those names is not a real comparison.

  • Who you deal with. Safestyle’s quote form matches you with a salesperson, then a surveyor re-measures once you’ve ordered. A local firm such as JMF often has the same small team handle the quote, survey and aftercare.
  • Seeing the product. Safestyle has no showroom near Oxford; several local firms do, including A&C, Silent View, Mcleans and Legacy.
  • Local knowledge. One home in five predates 1919, and almost a third of households rent privately, so local experience with older frames and landlord needs helps.
  • Aftercare. A firm based down the road is easier to get back out than a national call centre.
  • A genuine second quote. Safestyle, Anglian and Everest are all priced by the same company, so an independent local quote is a real point of comparison.

How we chose the Oxford firms

We checked every firm on 21 October 2026 for an active trading record, a base in or near Oxford, window and door fitting (not glass merchants or repair-only), and public reviews, looking hard at each one’s stated guarantee and whether it’s insurance-backed. We left out firms outside the county with only an Oxford landing page, unless they had verified Oxfordshire reviews (as Double Glazing Direct does on Which?), and anyone with no confirmable record. Ratings shift weekly, so check the live figure before booking anybody, us included.

The 10+ Safestyle alternatives in Oxford

1. JMF Windows & Doors (Bunkers Hill, Oxford): best for one local team from survey to aftercare

If something goes wrong after fitting, you ring the same small team that sold, measured and arranged it. Paul, our sales manager, usually makes the first visit, and Jake, who owns the business, does the technical survey himself.

Safestyle’s range is uPVC windows plus doors, with no conservatories. We fit uPVC windows too, plus timber windows and timber doors for Oxford’s older streets, aluminium windows for a slimmer frame, and conservatories and named-maker composite doors. One quote covers the whole house, with aftercare from the same local team.

Where we’re not the best fit: we don’t repair timber windows; Safestyle’s 15-year term on sealed units beats our standard 10 years, so compare the small print; and with 12 Trustpilot reviews, our feedback is mostly on Google.

2. Woodcraft Windows (Sandford Gate, Oxford): best for timber with a long stated guarantee

Woodcraft quotes a 30-year timber guarantee on its wooden French doors, the longest claim we saw in Oxford. It trades through Traditional Glaze Solutions Ltd, incorporated in 2015 (Companies House 09746509), holds 4.9 on Google from 89 reviews and 4.8 on Trustpilot from 103 (Trustpilot), and focuses on timber sash, casement and AluClad windows for period homes.

Good to know: check which products the 30-year term covers. It’s a separate business from Woodcraft Bespoke Windows Ltd, which is in liquidation (Companies House 07855306).

3. Admiral Windows (Cowley, Oxford): best for repairs as well as replacements

Admiral’s website lists repairs, secondary glazing and roofline next to new windows and doors. It has 4.8 on Google from 230 reviews, says it was established in 1986, and has been a limited company since 2000 (Companies House 03961222), stating FENSA, TrustMark, Trading Standards and SafeContractor approval with a 10-year guarantee on qualifying installations.

Good to know: check what “qualifying” means for your job; it scores 4.3 on Trustpilot from 22 reviews (Trustpilot).

4. Silent View Windows (Thame): best for top-rated reviews with a showroom

Silent View holds a perfect 5.0 on Google from 126 reviews. Incorporated in 2012 (Companies House 07902920), it describes itself as a family business started in 2010, fitting uPVC, aluminium, timber and timber-alternative windows and conservatories with FENSA certification and a 10-year guarantee, with a showroom in Thame.

Good to know: ask whether the ten-year guarantee is insurance-backed.

5. Didcot Windows (Didcot): best for clearly stated cover

Didcot Windows sets out its guarantee in detail: 10 years on uPVC frames, all sealed units and labour. Incorporated in 1991 (Companies House 02635565), it says it was founded in 1988, has 4.9 on Google from 207 reviews, and shows FENSA registration.

6. Tropiglaze (Crawley, Witney): best for Witney and west Oxford

Tropiglaze has been incorporated since 2006 (Companies House 05696501) and dates its story to 1972. It has 4.6 on Google from 21 reviews, cites a 9.56 out of 10 rating from nearly 350 Checkatrade reviews, and fits uPVC windows, composite and bifold doors, and conservatories.

Good to know: its website mentions “full guarantees” without a stated length. Ask for the terms in writing.

7. A&C Glass & Glazing (Abingdon Road, Oxford): best for insurance-backed guarantees

A&C states it offers GGFi insurance-backed guarantees, which protect your guarantee if the installer stops working. It says it has served Oxfordshire since 1987, scores 4.5 on Google from 70 reviews, is FENSA registered, and opens its central Oxford showroom weekdays and Saturday mornings.

Good to know: the product guarantee is “up to 10 years”, so confirm the term for each item.

8. Mcleans Glass (Garsington Road, Oxford): best for glass and window work from one firm

Mcleans describes itself as a CERTASS approved installer and fits a wide range, from uPVC and aluminium to heritage flush sash and timber, along with glass and mirror work. Incorporated in 2009 (Companies House 06866856), it says it has traded locally for over 20 years and scores 4.6 on Google from 107 reviews.

Good to know: we couldn’t find a guarantee length on its website.

Oxon offers a 10-year guarantee covering frames, glass and hardware, and has 5.0 on Google from 22 reviews. It says it has traded since 2003, while the current company was incorporated in 2021 (Companies House 13161581), fitting uPVC flush casement, sash and tilt and turn windows, aluminium windows, doors and conservatories.

Good to know: we found no FENSA or CERTASS badge on its homepage, so confirm how it will certify the work.

12. Double Glazing Direct (Aylesbury): best for Which? vetting plus an insurance-backed guarantee

Double Glazing Direct is a Which? Trusted Trader with 4.9 from 41 reviews, whose profile says its guarantee is insurance-backed (Which?). It has 4.9 on Google from 79 reviews, was incorporated in 2011 (Companies House 07502730), and lists Oxfordshire among its service areas.

What windows cost in Oxford in 2026

Safestyle doesn’t publish prices, offering instead to match a genuine like-for-like quote claimed within 7 days, if the other firm’s warranties and accreditations are equal or better (Safestyle’s website, October 2026). To judge any quote, start with the published ranges.

Item MyJobQuote Checkatrade
uPVC casement window, fitted £350 to £600 (MyJobQuote, Jul 2026) £500 to £1,250 (Checkatrade, May 2026)

What Oxford homes need

  • Almost a third of households rent privately. 32.2% of Oxford households rented privately in the 2021 Census, against 20.5% across England (ONS, Census 2021). If you let a property, a transferable guarantee and a clear repairs route matter as much as price.
  • One in five homes is pre-1919. 20.1% of Oxford’s 63,780 Council Tax properties were built before 1919 (VOA Council Tax stock of properties 2025). In conservation areas a like-for-like timber replacement may be expected.
  • Older homes struggle on energy. Only 20.9% of Oxford homes built before 1929 reach EPC band C or above, against 58.4% of all Oxford homes with a certificate (ONS), so A-rated glazing is part of the answer.

Five checks before you sign with anyone

  1. Meet Part L. Replacement windows need a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or better, or a Window Energy Rating of band B or above (GOV.UK).
  2. Get the certificate. A FENSA, CERTASS or Assure registered installer must give you one within 8 weeks of finishing (GOV.UK). Keep it with your guarantee for when you sell.
  3. Read the cancellation terms. Signing at home usually gives 14 days to cancel; made-to-measure products can be treated differently, so get it in writing (legislation.gov.uk).
  4. Ask who backs your guarantee and deposit, and get the name in writing. Paying part by credit card adds Section 75 protection.
  5. Be wary of shrinking quotes. Which? warns about prices that fall during the visit if you sign straight away (Which?, Sept 2026).

Questions people ask about Safestyle

Are local window companies cheaper than Safestyle?

Safestyle doesn’t publish prices. Cost guides put a uPVC casement window at £350 to £1,250 fitted, depending on spec, so a free local quote alongside a Safestyle quote is the only way to compare like for like.

Why choose a local installer over Safestyle?

Safestyle, Anglian and Everest are all priced by the same company, so a local firm gives a genuinely separate quote. You also get a nearby showroom where one exists, a smaller team from quote to fit, and reviews from Oxford customers you can check.

Can Safestyle fit a conservatory or timber windows?

Its website doesn’t list conservatories or timber windows (Safestyle’s website, October 2026). Most independents on this list fit conservatories, and several fit timber.

Are Safestyle reviews reliable?

Safestyle has 3.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 48,801 reviews, but only 296 arrived in the last 12 months (Trustpilot, 21 Oct 2026). Filter by date to see recent reviews.
